Rita Ebel, 76, of Mandan, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at Prospera Community Assisted Living and Nursing Facility in Mandan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Spirit of Life Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. Todd Kreitinger as celebrant. Inurnment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bismarck.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 19, 2021 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, with a Parish Vigil at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

Rita was born August 12, 1945, in Bismarck, to Paul and Pansy (Oxford) Jaszkowiak. She was raised in Bismarck where she attended and graduated from St. Mary’s High School. She also took some bookkeeping classes at Bismarck Junior College and graduated with an Associates degree. On May 6, 1966, she married Keith Ebel. The couple lived in Bismarck for one year and then moved to Mandan where Keith still resides. Rita did daycare for a few years while her children were young and then took a bookkeeping job at The Gourmet House. She would also work full time at Speedy’s Tire, Northwest Tire, and Laducer & Associates. She also worked many years part time and eventually retired from Sears. Rita had a passion for all things Elvis and was an avid collector of his memorabilia. Her most memorable vacation was when she finally was able to see Graceland. Rita enjoyed bowling and belonged to a league for many years, competing in a lot of tournaments. She also enjoyed reading and once she retired, found the Hallmark channel a comfort. Rita collected Coke memorabilia and enjoyed her Diet Coke which she almost always had in hand. Rita loved the holidays and getting the family together. Decorating for every holiday brought her immense joy and she decorated every room in the house for every holiday.

She is survived by her husband, Keith, Mandan; one daughter, Stefanie (Jeff) Muth, Mandan; one son, Kent, Mandan; four grandchildren, Eric (Brittany) Peterson, Mandan, Krystal (Kasey) Power, Wilton, Bernadeht Ebel, Maryland, and Paul Ebel, Mandan; three great-grandchildren, Kadence Power, Wilton and Paisley and Savannah Peterson, Mandan, and Baby Power arriving November 2021; five sisters and one brother-in-law, Mary Jaszkowiak, Dorothy Falconer, Sue Jaszkowiak, and Beverly (Curt) Goehring, all of Bismarck; eight brothers and five sisters-in-law, John Jaszkowiak and Bill (Marlene) Jaszkowiak, all of Montana, Tom Jaszkowiak, Minnesota, Henry (Marlene) Jaszkowiak, Edward Jaszkowiak, Charlie (JoAnne) Jaszkowiak, and Don Jaszkowiak, all of Bismarck, Andy (Pam) Jaszkowiak, Texas, and Mary Jaszkowiak, Bismarck; one brother-in-law, Herb (Char) Ebel, Bismarck; two sisters-in-law, Pat (Melvin) Madsen, Washington and Penny (Gary) Martin, Fargo; and many nieces and nephews.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Pansy Jaszkowiak; brothers, Fred and Ken Jaszkowiak; and sisters-in-law, Norita and Mary Jean Jaszkowiak.

Rita always talked about being the middle child. She would tell people no matter how you looked at it she was the middle. Born the eighth child out of fifteen she had seven siblings above and seven below her. Five brothers older and five brothers younger, two sisters older and two sisters younger.
