Obituary

Patricia Anne Montplaisir (Noehring), who is called and better known as, “Mom, Pat, or Patty Anne”, joined her beloved husband, Denis, and Jesus Christ on Saturday, November 6, 2021. Pat lived a “Very-Good” life filled with love as a servant of God, spreading peace, encouragement, and delight to all those around her. The family invites you to celebrate and honor Pat’s amazing legacy:  Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. on Friday, November 12, 2021, with a vigil and time of sharing from 5-7 p.m. at Church of Corpus Christi, Bismarck. The Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Church of Corpus Christi, Bismarck, followed by burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bismarck, then luncheon back at Corpus Christi.

Pat was born April 18, 1955, in St. Paul, MN to Arthur & Jane Noehring (Papa & Nini to the grandkids). Here she was doted on by her “older” sister Mary Jane (Santele). A short time later, the family moved to St. Cloud, MN, where Mike and John were welcomed as new baby brothers. Later, a job transfer meant a move to St. Louis, where her sister Joan (Duffy) was born. When Pat was in 6th grade, she and her family moved to White Bear Lake, MN (“GO BEARS”), and Jim, the youngest sibling was born to complete the family balance with three boys and three girls.

Pat excelled at so many things, especially school and in her faith. She always said, “you can do anything you set your mind to”. After high school graduation from White Bear High, she graduated with honors from the College of St. Benedict’s and became a registered nurse with a focus on cardiology. She met and married the love of her life, Denis, and they laid their family foundation in Mandan, ND with her four ‘precious’ sons:  Mike, Dave, Danny, and Marc. Pat worked at St. Alexius in Bismarck, ND for over three decades. She was a compassionate nurse and cared deeply for her patients. She later became a Mary Kay sales director and loved to pamper and “beautify” friends and family for many special occasions. In her many years with Mary Kay, Pat focused her time to empower and encourage all women to let their inner and outer beauty shine.

Although Pat excelled at her work, she lovingly and often said her sons were the true “purpose” and joy for her life. Pat was a devoted mother to her four boys and raised them with a strong love of God, family, and adventure. As the boys were growing up, she taught them four main rules: 1: Jesus is your best friend. 2: For all behavior there is a consequence 3:  No matter what anyone tells you, you are special 4: You can do anything if you are willing to work hard. She also flourished as “Grandma Pat” and was proud of her eleven grandkids, where the girls finally outnumber the boys (seven girls and four boys).

Pat and Denis loved living life to the fullest and raised their boys to enjoy God’s beautiful creation. One of Pat’s lifetime highlights included annual summer trips to the ‘off the grid’ Noehring cabin, complete with no running water and full of family fun. They cherished their week-long trips to the cabin on Leech Lake as well as skiing and hiking in the black hills of South Dakota and traveling to many locations, including Europe and Hawaii.

In 2010, Pat was diagnosed with a rare Leukemia and endured months of life altering treatment. She was a woman of unwavering faith throughout her life and her cancer diagnosis was no different. With the grace of God, amazing doctors and a community of support, family and friends were blessed for 11 more years of Pat experiences, as a wife, mom, daughter, sister, aunt, mentor, and friend, she was truly a miracle.

Pat is survived by all of her brothers and sisters, and her sons and their families:   son, Mike (Katie) and their children Judah, Makenna, Hannah and Timmy; son, Dave and his sons Kayden and Jordan; son, Danny (Betsy) and their daughters Bella and Eliana; son, Marc (Chelsi) and their daughters Madi, Natalie, and Elise.

Pat is preceded in death by her husband, Denis; and her parents Art and Jane Noehring.

Patty Anne Montplaisir will shine on forever in her heavenly home, as she lives on in the spirit and heart of her immediate family, chosen family, and countless friends. She is free and home again at last!

In lieu of sending flowers, the family is requesting all donations go to Bismarck-Mandan Young Life (601 N. 5th St. Bismarck, ND  58501) with a memo for the Denis and Pat Montplaisir Memorial.
