Terry DePriest

Terry DePriest, 57, of Mandan, passed away Monday, August 10, 2026, in Bismarck after a brief illness.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, September 19, 2026 at the Persilla Watts Cemetery in Rugby, ND. A lunch will follow at the Rugby Senior Center, where the family will receive friends until 4:30 P.M.

Terry was born June 6, 1969, in Rugby, North Dakota to Hagen and Doris DePriest where he was raised and educated. Terry worked at John Deere Equipment in Wimbledon in the early 1990s. He moved to Jamestown, worked at Cavendish Farms as a machine operator, and later as a custodian at Jamestown High School. He eventually moved to Bismarck where he worked at University of Mary as a custodian, and later at the Cenex C-Store in Lincoln, ND. He has resided in the Bismarck-Mandan area for the past 10 years. His last employment was with R & G Manufacturing south of Mandan.

Terry was a simple guy who enjoyed the outdoors. He especially liked fishing, whether casting for walleye at the Downstream Campground along the Tailrace at Garrison Dam or fishing at the trout pond at Riverdale Campground. He also enjoyed deer hunting with his brother Gary and brother in-law Ken. He was a Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings fan and loved watching WWE Wrestling with his nephew Henry. Terry could fix just about anything and was always willing to put his skills to use when someone needed a hand.

Terry will be remembered for his good sense of humor, friendly nature and his willingness to visit with just about anyone. Once you got to know him, you quickly learned he could be pretty talkative. He had a nickname for most everyone in his life, another little way he made people feel like they were part of his circle. Terry was also someone who was willing to help whenever the opportunity presented itself.

He is survived by his two sons; his sister, Lori (Ken) Getzlaff; his brother, Gary (Sarah) DePriest; and nieces and nephew, Janine, Ashley, Sheena, Sophie, and Henry.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Hagen and Doris DePriest, and siblings, William DePriest and Jeanette DePriest.
