Taylor John Matthews, 18, of Wing, ND, died by suicide on December 27, 2025, in Bismarck, ND.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Wing, ND. Burial will be at a later date at the Wing Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 PM on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, with a prayer service at 7 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Taylor was born on September 16, 2007, at St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck to Darci Dockter and Sean Matthews. He was raised and educated in Wing and McClusky, ND.
Taylor was a senior in high school this year. He worked in Bismarck for a lawn care and snow removal company, where he took pride in his hard work.
Taylor participated in FFA and had a deep love for farming. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working on vehicles—anything that kept him outdoors or busy with his hands. Taylor was well liked in the communities he lived in and was known for his kind heart and loyalty. He cherished his friends deeply and especially loved spending time with his little sister.
Taylor is survived by his mother, Darci (Darcy) Jorgensen of Wing, ND; his father, Sean Matthews of Bismarck, ND; sister, Tiera Matthews of Wing, ND; grandparents, Ron and Joan Dockter, Wing, ND; aunts and uncles, Dennis (Shelly) Dockter, Danny Dockter, Patrick (Sarah) Dockter, Evony (Eric) Hansen, Jessica Dockter, Jeff Dockter, and Kayla (Chad) Elsen, Thane (Nikki) Dockter of Menoken, ND, Sabrina Dockter of Omaha, NE and Desirae Dockter of Lincoln, NE; many cousins; great-aunts and great-uncles; special friends, Lane (Karlee) Doll and Brad Ely; and his fishing and hunting buddies, Britton Schlafmann, Kasen Bosch, and many others who will miss him dearly.
Taylor will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, his strong work ethic, and the many friendships he formed throughout his life.
Taylor was preceded in death by his grandma, Renee Matthews; grandpa, Kenny Dockter and great-grandparents, Walt and Bertha Dockter as well as Elmer and Viola Schuh.
