Roy was born March 30, 1933, to Nick R. and Perpetua “Bada” (Schmidt) Friesz.  Raised on the family farm north of Fallon, ND, he attended school in Flasher, graduating from Flasher High School in 1952.  He then moved to Mandan and attended Bismarck Junior College, graduating in 1954.  On October 24, 1960, he married Jeannette Leingang at St. Anthony Church. Roy worked for Sweetheart Bakery for 30 years.  He was a member of the St. Anthony Verein and Teamsters Union.  Roy loved pheasant hunting with his family, fishing, gardening, and traveling.  He looked forward to days when he got to pick his grandkids up from school.  A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Roy will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Blessed to have shared in his life is his wife of 63 years, Jeannette Friesz, Mandan; two sons, Dennis M. (Lorraine) Friesz, Mandan and Roger R. (Joie) Friesz, Round Rock, TX; five grandchildren, Sara (Jaden) Hertz, Eric (Brittany) Friesz, Dylan Friesz (fiancee, Andrea), and Rae and Matti Friesz; and five great grandchildren, Riley, Edyn, and Everett Hertz and Easton and Asher Friesz; and siblings, Loretta Loeb, Gresham, OR, Jim (Judy) Friesz, Mandan, and Luella Collins, Molalla, OR.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Frances (Tony) Hopfauf, Josephine (Bill) Helbling, Odell (Art) Mildenberger, Emerita (Ralph) Loeb, and Margaret; brothers, Ray (Irene) Friesz, Martin (Ellen) Friesz, and infant Henry; and brothers-in-law, Harlin Loeb and Lee Collins.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Meals on Wheels, Pheasants Forever, or the charity of your choice.

The family wishes to thank Sanford Hospice for their kind and compassionate care of Roy.
