Roger K. O’Neill, age 57, of Mandan passed away August 14, 2017, at Sanford Health in Bismarck.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 18, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 108 3rd Street NE, Mandan, ND, with Rev. Shane Campbell officiating. Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fort Rice, ND.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 17, 2017 with a rosary/parish vigil at 7:00 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, ND. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Roger was born on May 19, 1960 in Bismarck, ND, to Kenneth and Josephine (Lockner) O’Neill. He graduated from Mandan High School in 1978. He married Theresa Doll in June of 1985 and together they had 5 children. He made his living as a union laborer and then as a truck driver for many years.
Roger cherished his family and friends. His children will remember summer fishing trips, riding along in the semi, and squabbling over who got to dance the father-daughter dance at weddings. His friends remember him as the life of the party, a social guy who loved softball tournaments, cheering on the Minnesota Vikings, and just catching up over a drink. Recently, Roger loved taking on the role of grandfather to his first grandchild, Josie.
Roger is survived by his father, Kenneth O’Neill of Bismarck, ND; daughters, Sarah O’Neill of Walcott, ND, Amanda (Brad) O’Neill of Bismarck, ND, Melanie (Robert) Pierucci of Bakersfield, CA, and Megan O’Neill of Omaha, NE; son, Justin O’Neill of Mandan, ND; granddaughter, Josie Pierucci; his brother, Kevin (Marie) of Fort Rice, ND; his uncle, Owen O’Neill; former spouse, Theresa O’Neill; and special friend, Bernice Voigt.
Roger was preceded in death by his mother Josephine; and brother, Allen.
