Raymond J. Dockter, 86, of Mandan, passed away September 1, 2019 at Miller Pointe in Mandan.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 4, 2019 from 4:00-7:00 PM at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

Raymond was born June 5, 1933 to Louis and Christina (Eisenbraun) Dockter and attended school in Golden Valley.  Ray served in the US Army from 1953-1955 during the Korean War.  On June 30, 1962, Ray married Patricia Haworth in Seattle, WA.  Together they moved to North Dakota in 1973, where they made their home.  Although he was a man of many talents, his passion was carpentry, which he did most of his life.

Ray enjoyed playing cards, watching westerns on TV, and spending time at the casino. He loved to go fishing and camping, especially with his daughter and grandkids.  Ray and Pat loved to dance, and everyone loved watching them Polka as they glided across the dance floor completely in sync with one another. Ray had a very independent personality and was reserved at first until you got to know him. He was a true and dedicated friend to many.  He loved his grandkids dearly and enjoyed spending time with them.  One of the most important things that brought joy to Ray, was spending time with his great-granddaughter, Madie.  She held a special place in his heart and could always make him laugh.

Ray will be deeply missed by his wife of 57 years, Patricia; daughter, Dorreen “Dorie” Dockter (significant friend, Kevin Kruckenberg), Mandan; son, Kevin, Cannon City, CO; grandchildren, Cassandra “Cassie” Anderson, Mandan, Brandon Anderson, Mandan; great-granddaughter, the joy of his life, Madalee “Madie” Canales.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, George.
