Randolph Steward Stiller, age 78, of Hazen, passed away on Wednesday, March 26th, 2025, at his residence. He was born March 18, 1947, in Bismarck, ND, the first child of Lester and Ruth (Keith) Stiller.
Randy lived a fulfilling life, surrounding himself with family and friends. He grew up in Hebron, ND, and graduated from Hebron High School. He then attended the State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND, where he earned a degree in Drafting. His first job was at Hauck Millwork (now TMI) in Dickinson. Randy honorably served his Country in the Army serving in the Vietnam War. He was proud of his military background. Subsequently, Randy built a successful career in the coal industry, starting in Roundup, MT and eventually landing in Hazen, ND. Randy was a member of the Hebron American Legion and a Grand Mason in the Masonic Lodge.
In 1981, Randy married Karen Engebretson, and they made their home in Hazen, ND, splitting their time between a house in town and a lake home near Pick City. He enjoyed building the cabin at the lake and staying busy with various maintenance and repair projects. He and Karen made many memories traveling to destinations like Jamaica and Las Vegas with family and friends.
Randy is survived by his siblings Bryon (Nicole) Stiller of Billings, MT, Nanette (Michael) Winkler of Dupont, WA and Marla (Tony) Seiler of Dickinson, ND; stepchildren Laurel (Steve) Rohrer and Curtis (Lisa) Engebretson; as well as a niece, three nephews, three great-nieces, and five step-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren and five step great-great-grandchildren.
Randy was preceded in death by his wife, Karen; his parents, Lester and Ruth Stiller; and his stepdaughter, Carla Pfeifer.
A graveside committal will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 12:00 PM.
