Philip W. Frohlich, age 82, Mandan, ND, passed away on May 6, 2024.

 A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. Fred Harvey as celebrant. Burial will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery. 

Visitation will be held Monday, May 13, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, with a Rosary/Parish Vigil at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. 

Philip William Frohlich was born on November 23, 1941, in Mandan. He grew up on a farm near St. Vincent’s Church, 10 miles west of Mandan. His parents, John and Rose Frohlich, had five children and Philip was the middle child. He started in a rural school and later graduated from Mandan High School in 1958. He also served in the U.S. Army National Guard.

He worked at several different jobs including a gas station in Glendive, MT, before moving back to Mandan where he worked for a tree nursery, an optical eye clinic and a meat butcher. He retired when he was 60 years old.

A private person, Philip, lived in his house with his mom for several years after his dad died. His mom moved to Glendive, MT, in 1994 and passed away in 1997. After selling his house, Philip, lived at Library Square. Two years ago, he was honored at an 80^th birthday party with several of his relatives.  In 2023, he was moved to a nursing home for health reasons.

With his nieces and nephews, Philip was most often known as simply “Uncle.” He liked to bowl and play cards. He always owned different cars and had a collection of old hub caps. His most fun was visiting with relatives and the Frohlich reunions. 

He is survived by his sister, Rosaline (Leo) Doll, Glendive; and brother Clifford (Paula) Frohlich, Mandan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Rose; two brothers, John Jr., and Herbert.
