Pauline was born on June 29, 1925 in Glen Ullin, ND, the daughter of Joseph and Amelia Roll. She was raised in the Fallon and Flasher area, attending grade school in Fallon and graduating from Flasher High School in 1942. She furthered her education at Dickinson State College, where she obtained her teaching certificate. Pauline taught school in the Center, ND area in a one room school-house having all eight grades. She would have to get to school early enough in the winter to get the stove fired up and the school warm before the students arrived.
Pauline married George Erhardt on October 11, 1944 and together they moved to their farm southwest of Flasher in 1946. She was a farm wife/partner until they moved from the farm in 1974. After their move, she worked for both Mor-Gran-Sou Electric and Meyer’s Café in Flasher. After George’s death in 1981, Pauline moved to Bismarck in 1982. She worked for Senior Companions and then provided childcare for her youngest granddaughters until they started school. Pauline was a member of Church of Corpus Christi and Catholic Daughters. She did all the family mending on her trusty Singer Sewing Machine and loved to bake. Some of her specialties were caramel rolls and her famous wedding sugar kuchen; her last batch just prior to entering the nursing home. One of Pauline’s most cherished memories was a bus trip to Canada to see Pope John Paul II.
Pauline entered the nursing home due to a broken hip and massive stroke in 2009; once her health improved, she embroidered dish towels on a steady basis. She also participated in all of the entertainment and activities at the home. In her spare time, she enjoyed putting puzzles together and tying blankets.
She is survived by one daughter, Lorraine (Ron) Dressler, of Bismarck; two sons, Norman (Bonnie) Erhardt, of Flasher and Kevin (Norma) Erhardt, of Bismarck and one daughter-in-law, Ranette Erhardt, of Mandan; eight grandchildren, Lisa Dressler, Jason (EmaLee) Dressler, Susan (Jesse) Kalberer, Michelle (Michael) Johnson, Nikki (Corey) Hanson, Dustin Erhardt, RaeLynn Erhardt (Brett Splettstaszer) and Kelli Erhardt; fourteen great grandchildren, Christian, Nicholas, Alexis, Gabriel, Nathan, Conrad, Isabella, Carson, Jameson, Harrison, Maxon, Kaylee, Jenny and Wyatt; one brother, John (Maggie) Roll, Aurora, Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George; three sons, Bob, Clarence and Marvin, and her parents; three brothers, Matt, Frank and Florian; seven sisters, Minnie (Jerome) Schafer, Peggy (Pete) Connor, Monica (Doug) Topping, Bertha (Tony) Erhardt, Eve (Ray) Tobiason, Ida (Ed) Ferderer and Lucille (Mike) Ressler; and two infant brothers, Peter and Max.
