Nicholas (Nick) Zueger

Nicholas (Nick) Zueger, 95, Mandan, passed away December 16, 2017 at Sunset Drive – a Prospera Community, Mandan.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 on Friday, December 22, 2017 at Church of St. Joseph, Mandan, ND with Rev. Shane Campbell as celebrant.  Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery following the service.

Visitation will be held Thursday, December 21, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home, with a Rosary and Parish Vigil at 6:30 pm. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Nick was born May 14, 1922 to Pius and Katherine (Reisenauer) Zueger.  He was raised and educated in Mandan, ND.  On August 31, 1943 he married Monica Helbling.  He was a body repair man most of his life.

He is survived by his wife, Monica of 74 years; one daughter, Phylis (Jim) Benz, Mandan; one son, Mel Zueger (partner David Picket), California; one son-in-law, Joe Ciavarella, Mandan; 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; one brother, Ed (Joyce) Zueger; two sisters-in-law, Maxie Helbling and Gardie Palen; 2 brothers-in-law, Tom (Janet) Helbling and Al Helbling; special family friend, Steve Casey; and sister-in-law, Gloria Zueger.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one daughter and son-in-law, Carol (Roger) Birkholz Ciavarella; two sons and daughters-in-law, Roger (Pat) Zueger, and Ken (Melanie) Zueger; one great-grandson, Michael Zueger; 5 brothers; and 5 sisters.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph Trust Fund.
