Merry was born February 10, 1949, in Mandan, ND to Fred & Helen (Valenta) Hirsch. She graduated from Mandan High School in 1967, and continued her education at UND graduating in 1972, with a degree in Medical Technology. Merry married Delvin Wetsch and they had two children, Jennifer and Jamie. Merry later went back to college, graduating from BSC in 2001, with a paralegal certificate. Merry’s hobbies included, changing out her home décor for every season, designing floral arrangements, and working in her flower gardens in the summer. Her love for flowers came from years of working at her brother’s floral business, Hirsch Florist, in Mandan. Merry was also a music lover. She dusted off her high school clarinet and played in the early years of the West River Winds community band. She enjoyed watching old musicals on DVD and listening to CD’s, especially Elvis, Barry Manilow, and Neil Diamond.
Grateful for having shared in her life are her children, Jennifer (Brian) Jessen of Bismarck and Jamie (Missy) Wetsch of Mandan; 4 grandchildren, Riley, Ryan, Austin Wetsch, and Kylee Jessen; two brothers, Steven Hirsch of Mandan and David (Fatima) Hirsch of Bismarck; one brother-in-law, Tracy Stein (Judy Volk); niece, Emily (Tyler) Laycock of Winnipeg, Canada; and nephew, Vini Hirsch of Brazil.
