Mary Ann Mousel, 73, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2017 after a brief illness.  Mary Ann was in the gentle care of hospice at the time of her death.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 pm on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Church of St. Joseph, Mandan, ND with Rev. Shane Campbell as celebrant.  Inurnment will be at Mandan Union Cemetery following the service.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 9, 2018 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home, with a Rosary and Parish Vigil at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

Mary Ann was born in Mandan, North Dakota, on December 5, 1944, to Justin and Magdalene (nee Mook) Mousel.  Mary Ann attended St. Joseph Catholic School in Mandan and graduated from Mandan High School in 1962.  After graduating from Bismarck Junior College in 1964, Mary Ann graduated from the University of North Dakota in 1966.

Upon graduating from U.N.D., Mary Ann returned home to Bismarck-Mandan and worked in the medical clinic of Dr. Ralph Vinje.  After a trip to the West Coast in June of 1968, to visit extended family, Mary Ann stayed in the Sacramento, working and living in the Palo Alto area.  Mary Ann returned to North Dakota in 1969, and began a long career working at the North Dakota of Public Instruction.  Mary Ann retired from the DPI in 2003, and enjoyed a long and happy retirement, living in Bismarck. She traveled often to visit friends and family which gave her great pleasure.  Mary Ann was a devoted member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  She worked part time at the lunch counter at the Bismarck K-Mart cafeteria for 37 years until retiring from that activity in 2013.

Mary Ann was an avid bowler and participated in bowling leagues at the Bismarck and Mandan bowling alleys.  A high point in Mary Ann’s bowling career came in 1989, when the Women’s International Bowling Congress had the WIBC championship tournament at the Bismarck-Mandan bowling alleys from April 6, to June 12, 1989.

Mary Ann will be missed by her brother, Thomas Mousel, Mandan, ND; her nephew, Thomas (Tommy) Mousel, Columbia Falls, MT; her maternal aunt, Margaret (nee Haag) Mook, Carmichael, CA; numerous cousins and many friends.

Preceding Mary Ann in death were her parents, Justin and Magdalene; brother, William Mousel; sister-in-law, Margaret (Perdew) Mousel.

Mary Ann lived a good, long, happy life.  She loved her family and friends and they loved her back.  She will be greatly missed by all.
