Mary Brucker

December 24, 1925 — March 3, 2014

Mary C. Brucker, 88, Mandan, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 3, 2014 at The Touchmark in Bismarck.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 7, 2014 at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. Johnson Kuriappilly as celebrant. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 6, 2014 from 1:00-8:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home, with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 6:45 pm followed by a Parish Vigil at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Mary was born in Mott, ND on December 24, 1925 to Frank and Josephine (Schorsch) Yates. She attended school in Mott until the family moved to New Leipzig in 1941 where she graduated with the class of 1943. Mary then moved to Mandan where she was employed as an operator with Northwestern Bell Telephone Company.

It was there she met the love of her life Jacob P. Brucker, and they were married on August 21, 1945. After 52 years of marriage Jake passed away on September 20, 1997. Mary finished her working career as a bookkeeper for Railway Credit Union in Mandan.

Mary loved knitting, crafts and playing pinochle but most importantly spending time with her family and grandchildren. Mary was best known for her famous prowess in the art of baking goodies and treats for many family and friends. She had many years of joyful memories feeding the neighborhood kids with meals and special treats.

Mary was active with several community service organizations including; Golden Age Club, Golden Kiwanis, Special Olympics, Cub Scouts and the ARC of Bismarck. She was most active with the Golden Kiwanis; her passion was working the Golden K in area school classrooms with their reading program.

Last year Mary moved to the Touchmark of Bismarck and enjoyed spending her time with many wonderful friends and a special caring staff.

Mary will be deeply missed by two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Renee Brucker of Mandan and Paul and Mary Brucker of Bismarck; four grandchildren, Ryan (Sarah), Alicia, Victoria and Jacob; one great-grandchild, Lillian; two sisters-in-law, Liz Yates and Deanna Berg along with many special nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers, John Yates, Frank Yates, Robert Yates and Chuck Krause and one sister, Patricia Huether.
