Margaret Wetsch

Margaret E. Wetsch, 88, Mandan, died June 6, 2014 at St. Gabriel’s Community in Bismarck.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. Shane Campbell as celebrant. Interment will be at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery. After the burial a luncheon will be served at the Mandan Moose Club.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 9, 2014 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home, with a CDA Rosary/Parish Vigil at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.

Margaret was born on May 21, 1926 to Kasper Erhardt and Lucretia (Messer) in Center, ND. She married George A. Wetsch on October 4, 1945 in St. Anthony, ND. Shortly after they married, they moved to Ft. Meade, MD until George was discharged, then moved to Mandan.

Margaret took care of her family after her mother passed away, making a great example for their family. She sold Avon and women’s clothing. She loved pitching kickball and had many children gathered at her home for many games.

Margaret was a 50 year member of the Catholic Daughters as well as a troop leader for Junior Catholic Daughter of America. She loved dancing and traveled 25 years with George on many tours. The extended family enjoyed many fishing and camping trips to Lake Sakakawea. Margaret’s greatest pride was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren having created many memories of laughter and spoiling them. She was a vibrant wife, mother and grandmother whose wonderful personality, full of laughter and the joy of life, with a compassionate and gentle soul and a warm and loving smile will be missed by all that loved and knew her.

Margaret will be deeply missed by her husband, George A. Wetsch; daughters, Joyce (Gary) Yantzer, Bismarck, ND, Sandy Sunga, Mandan, ND; grandchildren, Michelle (Jeff) Kirkwold, Crystal, MN, Tisha (Trent) Lezer, Rogers, MN, Westie (Matt) Nelson, Fargo, ND, Shelley Rohrich, Mandan, ND, Beth (Tanner) IntVeld, Mandan, ND; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Lucretia (Chris) Silbernagel, Bismarck, ND; sister-in-law’s, Vivian Erhardt, Bismarck, ND, Shirley Erhardt, Mandan, ND; brothers, Matt (Jo) Erhardt, Center, ND, Jack (Esther) Erhardt, Goodyear, AZ, and Kasper (Linda) Erhardt, Grand Forks, ND.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law, Dr. Conrado Sunga; sisters, Rose Barth, Frances Schulte, Veronica Schulte, Odelia Erhardt; brothers, Mike, Connie, Ray and Kasper Erhardt.
