Margaret Froelich

Margaret Rose Froelich, 86, Mandan, died November 9, 2013 at St. Vincent’s Care Center Emmanuel Place in Bismarck.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 pm on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. Shane Campbell as celebrant. Burial will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 13, 2013 from 4:00-9:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home, with a Rosary/Parish Vigil at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

Margaret Glasser was born May 24, 1927 in Solen, ND, daughter of Frank and Rose (Wetzstein) Glasser. Margaret was raised and educated in the Solen area. She married Peter Froelich April 10, 1945 in Solen. They resided in the Solen area until moving to Mandan in 1951. Margaret lived in Mandan until moving to St. Vincent’s Care Center on July 10, 2008.

Margaret worked at various jobs while residing in Mandan. She retired in 1975 from the Mandan Hospital where she ran the Snack Bar for over 10 years. After retiring, she volunteered for numerous organizations which included the St. Joe’s Altar Society, The Eagles Auxiliary, the Baptist Home and the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP).

Maggie, as most knew her, was known for her great sense of humor. She loved having fun and was always game for anything. She was a willing participant in many practical jokes, such as, “granny at the airport” and many mock weddings. She loved to dance and listen to old time music. She made crafts, played bingo, enjoyed going to the casino and mostly enjoyed playing Hand & Foot with relatives and friends. She spent a lot of time with her great-granddaughter, Alyssa, riding around on her scooter. She was an avid reader and spent her time reading and doing word find puzzles while in the nursing home. She continued to play cards until she became too ill to do so.

Margaret will be missed greatly by her sons, Dwight (Linda) Froelich, Mandan; Darrell (special friend Krista), Bismarck; her daughter, Cindy Dockter, Mandan; and son-in-law, Virgle Murray, Bismarck; six grandchildren, Laurie (Monte) Dockter, Cheryl (Dave) Bosch, Allan Murray, Mike (Rachel) Froelich, Todd Dailey, and Kristy (Brad) Mindt; 12 great-grandchildren, Jordan, Josh, Andy, Danielle, Brian, Jennifer, Bailey, Robbie, Bracstin, Alyssa, Bradey and Kaylee; two great-great-grandchildren, Landon and Bennet; two sisters, Monica Stoller and Bertha (Ed) Barth; and two sisters-in-law, Irene Glasser and Margaret Glaser.

Margaret is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Peter; daughter, Rhonda Murray; son-in-law, Barry Dockter; sisters, Elaine (Christ) Geiger, Rose (Bill) Stoller, Elizabeth (John) Stoltz; brothers, Tony (Rose), John (Frances), Adam (Veronica), Frank (Loretta), Mike and Lawrence.
