Marcy Pfliiger

December 6, 1952 — October 15, 2023

Marcy Pfliiger, 70, was reunited with her husband Evan on his birthday, October 15, 2023.

A Memorial Service will take place on Friday, October 20, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Weigel Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Burial will take place on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 11:00 AM MT at Carson Community Cemetery, Carson, ND.

Marcy was born December 6, 1952, the youngest of five to Ralph and Anna (Bullinger) Leingang.  She was raised on the family farm near St. Anthony, ND, graduating from Mandan High School.

In March of 1984, she married Evan Pfliiger and together they made their home in the Bismarck/Mandan area.

Marcy worked various jobs throughout her lifetime, but her true calling was found in plant and landscape planning. While employed at Classic Yards in Mandan, her love of all things “green” grew as she was able to transform that passion and love into a career.  Upon the closure of Classic Yards, Marcy found a new home at Plant Perfect in Bismarck where her talents were cultivated by the support of her wonderful coworkers. In this nurturing environment, she continued to share her expertise through numerous presentations and seminars impacting the green spaces of countless residents in the region. Her greatest love were roses, and she was affectionately referred to as the “Go-To Rose Expert”.

As much as Marcy’s talents flourished in cultivating many garden spaces during the summer growing season, her talents found beauty with her paint brush during the winter season. Marcy’s paintings were breathtaking and found their way onto canvas, glassware, rocks and, yes … even a buffalo skull!

The love of Marcy’s life was Evan.  Together they enjoyed spending time by the river, entertaining family and friends, and travelling when possible. She was especially proud to join Evan for a memorable trip to Hawaii, a vacation he had earned through work. When Evan’s health declined to the point of his being a prisoner within his own body, Marcy faithfully cared for him physically, emotionally and spiritually for well over a decade. In her true selfless form, she put aside her own difficulties to ensure that he knew he was loved while making him as comfortable as possible until his passing last year.

As much love as she shared with Evan, Marcy’s compassion was endless and was shared with everybody.  She loved, supported, and lifted the spirits of all who were blessed to know her whether they were close friends, family, coworkers, or even the stranger on the street.

Festus arrived in Marcy and Evan’s world as a nervous and timid rescue dog.  Marcy in her gentle, nurturing way gave him the love and support needed to help him heal and know love. During this past year, he in turn, did the same for her.  Each day they walked together…and they walk together still.

Marcy is survived by her sister, Marlene Watts; sister-in-law Sandy Leingang; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Marcy was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Anna Leingang; Parents-in-Law, Edward and Inez Pfliiger; brothers, Larry Leingang, Edwin “Eddy” Leingang, and Raymond “Ray” Leingang; brother-in-law, Cecil “Sonny” Watts; and sister-in-law Edith “Edie” Leingang.
