Lynn Nagel, 73, died April 23, 2024 at his daughter’s home in Mandan.
Visitation will be held Saturday morning from 9-11 AM at the funeral home.
Lynn was born March 6, 1951, in a farmhouse in Shields, ND, to Johnny and Arlene (Karlson) Nagel. All of the roads were blocked, so his dad and Bernard Wagy drug a landing strip for a small plane to land and take Lynn and his mom to the hospital. Lynn attended school in Shields, ND, for eight years and then graduated from Flasher High School in 1969. He went on to attend National College of Business in Rapid City for two years. While there, he met and married Vonnie Park and together they had three wonderful children, Dionne, Nicole, and Richard. Lynn worked construction in Rapid City until 1975, when they moved back to North Dakota and Lynn worked for Lohstreter Dairy. In the fall of 1975, Lynn purchased his family farm from his parents and milked cows and raised beef cattle. Lynn later worked the night shift at Prairie Learning Center for 12 years, retiring in 2018. He then lived in Mandan with his daughter, Dionne, and her family.
Blessed to have shared in his life are his children and grandchildren, Dionne (Shawn) Smith and their children, Shawn Jr., Brendan, and Bryce; Nicole Hinderer and her children, Trayton and Ryker; and Richard (Annie) Nagel and their child, Asher; special surviving cousins Charles and Elaine McLaughlin family; Jimmy McLaughlin family; Norma McLaughlin family; Debbie and Marty Oexner family and special friends Delvin and Ann LaDuke family.
Lynn was preceded in death by his parents and best friend, Kenny Bahm.
From Lynn: “One last thought before I sign off… Family is the most important thing in my life. I am so proud and grateful to have had them in my life. It doesn’t get any better than that!! Take care of yourselves and each other. Love you all always cause love never dies! I’m very happy and proud to be your dad and grandpa.”
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating blood or spreading the word to donate blood for cancer patients so they may have more quality time with their loved ones. Because of blood donations, Lynn was given four more months with his family.
The Nagel Family would like to thank Dr. Luebke in Oncology, every nurse in the infusion center, Dr. Newman, Dr. Dibildox, and the Medicine Shoppe in Mandan.
