Lucille M. Joersz, 84, Mandan, died June 8, 2015 of complications of Parkinson’s disease at Missouri Lutheran Care Center in Bismarck.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. Nick Schneider as celebrant. Burial will be at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.

A celebration of Lucille’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 from 3:00-8:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home, with a Parish Vigil at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

Lucille was born on June 8, 1931 to Antone and Mary (Mitzel) Gross in Napoleon, ND. She was raised and educated in the Napoleon area until her senior year when she attended Saint Mary’s High School in Bismarck, graduating in 1949. Lucille married Marvin Joersz on May 17, 1954 in Bismarck, ND. She and Marv owned and operated Marv’s Hardware for 41 years. Lucille was very civic minded and served on many organizations, including board member of the Morton County Housing Authority, University of Mary Board of Regents, Mandan Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and Christ the King Board of Trustees and Finance Committees. Lucille’s family was the center of her life. They especially enjoyed Sunday dinners together looking forward to her delicious cooking and baking, especially her homemade German dishes. She was loved by all who knew her and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Left to cherish her memory include her husband of 61 years Marv, Mandan; children, Diane (John) Rinck, Sandpoint, ID, Bruce, Mandan, Ken (Monica), Waikoloa Village, HI, Nancy (Tom) Christensen and Mary (Tim) Polzin both of Bismarck; 16 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Phyllis (Stan) Dolbinski, Bismarck; brothers, Ray (Marie) Gross, Fargo, ND, Alex (Mary) Gross, Bismarck, ND and Gary (Carolyn) Gross, Rapid City, SD along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; grandchildren, Emily and Joshua Joersz; sister, Helen Handtmann, brother, Tony Gross and an infant sister.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to CHI St. Alexius Hospice or a charity of your choice.
