Lorraine Miller

October 15, 1938 — November 29, 2023

Lorraine M. (Bosch) Miller, 85, of Mandan, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, surrounded by her family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 AM on Monday, December 4, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. Kregg Hochhalter as celebrant. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Sunday, December 3, 2023, from 4:00-6:00 PM at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, with a Rosary/Parish Vigil at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Monday.

Lorraine was the daughter of Fred Jr. and Caroline Bosch. She was raised on the family farm in Linton, ND. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Bismarck in 1957. She worked as a shoe stock worker for Richmond Bootery right out of high school until she met the love of her life. She married that love, John A. Miller, on May 29, 1963. To this marriage they were blessed with three children: Charlotte, Daniel and Dale.

Lorraine was a homemaker on the family farm and raised the children. She was a wonderful cook making exceptional kuchen, fudge and Christmas candy. If you ask her grandchildren, she made the best homemade macaroni and cheese. Her homemade pickles and many dishes were outstanding due to cooking secrets and a talent that will be hard to replicate. She had numerous recipe books and could have opened a store with what she had. She loved dancing and playing cards with family and friends. She was a member of St. Joseph Church and a lifetime member of the Christian Mothers of St. Anthony and the American Angus Auxiliary.

Lorraine is survived by her loving husband, John, of 60 years; her children, Charlotte (Rick) Zander of Mandan, Daniel (Rita) Miller of Mandan, and Dale (Val) Miller of St. Anthony; eight grandchildren, Britni (Jarin) Schaible of Mott, Kayla Zander and Ricky Zander of Mandan, Dustin (Allison) Miller of Bismarck, Eric (Megan) Miller of Fargo, Nicole (Lee) Renner of Bismarck, Leslie Miller (Fiancé, Mark Lueders) of Waco, Texas, and Gavin Miller of St. Anthony; great-grandchildren, Alexia, Jocelyn and Somer Schaible, Paxton, Luella and Iona Miller, Everly Renner, and Baby Miller; sister, Angeline (Arnold) Haider and family of Galesburg, Illinois.

Lorraine was preceded in death by a grandson, Jonathan Miller; her parents, Fred Jr. and Caroline Bosch; sister, Lucille Bosch; and foster brother, Don Gereszek.
