Logan Holm

April 5, 1934 — June 17, 2023

Mandan, ND

Logan Holm, 89, of Conrad, MT passed away peacefully on June 17, 2023, at Beehive Assisted Living in Conrad. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, July 5th, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church in Mandan. Internment immediately following at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan, where Logan will be laid to rest beside his wife Jeanette. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at the church.

Born in ClearBrook, MN on April 5, 1934, to Benjamin Roland Holm and Edna Holm (Flynn), the family later moved to Sidney, MT where Logan graduated high school in 1952. He immediately enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, to serve in The Korean War, Japan, and California. Logan moved to Mandan, ND in 1961, where he married Jeanette Lavonne Schaack on August 24, 1962. He worked for his father Ben’s construction company and eventually took over the business. He also worked at the Mandan Villa Assisted Living Facility as a CNA, where his affable and gentle nature made him a favorite of many of the residents. Logan also delivered Meals on Wheels for the Morton County seniors until 2018 in the Mandan area as well. He was a member of the Mandan Legion, Mandan KC’s, Mandan Elk’s Club, and the Conrad VFW.

Logan and Jeanette were prominent members of Christ the King Catholic Church in Mandan, where Logan was a member of the choir. On Sunday mornings, Logan and Jeanette drove around Mandan to distribute communion to residents who were unable to travel to the church themselves. Often Logan could be seen dutifully chauffeuring Jeanette around the Upper Midwest to present her inspirational talks as “The Hat Lady”, pulling a trailer filled with hundreds of hats. He enjoyed flying his Starduster Too biplane with son Bill and family friend Charlie Kalvoda, smoking his pipe, spending time with friends, and feeding his dogs ice cream every night. Logan enjoyed his final 3.5 years in Montana with his daughter Heather (Billy) and his grandchildren, Breanna, Brody, Tori and Brylee.

Logan is preceded in death by the love of his life, wife Jeanette (d. 2010) to whom he was married 48 years, brother-in-law Joseph Lawson, brother-in-law Jim Schaack, and his parents. He is survived by his son Dr. William James Holm and daughter-in-law Jenna Holm, son Andre Holm, daughter Heather Marie Dahlman and son-in-law Billy Mills, daughter Holly Marie Wood and son-in-law Sergeant Major James Wood, grandchildren Paityn, Aidan, Roan Holm and DJ Baus, Breanna Ostberg and Wyatt Ostberg, Brody Dahlman and Kayla Rowton, Tori Dahlman-Brown, Nathaniel, Gabriel and Xavier Wood, and Maria Holm; great grandchildren Brylee Marie, Isabella Marie, and Lillyanna Nicole; sister Judith Lawson, niece Leeann, great-niece Savannah, brother-in-law Don (Sharon) Schaack, sister-in-law Bev Schaack, as well as many other nieces and nephews.

We would like to thank his niece, Cathy Anhalt, Dr. Lee Walker, Dr. David Arends and Dr. Jay Taylor of Conrad as well as Stephanie and Terran Lohman and Amy Severtson of the Beehive for their amazing care of Logan, as well as all the other caregivers he has had the past few years.

Cards can be sent to PO Box 72 Dutton, MT 59433.  In lieu of flowers, a donation to Meals on Wheels/Mandan Golden Age Services would be appreciated at 3011 5th Street Northwest, Mandan, ND 58554.
