Leroy Weiand

Leroy Weiand, 79, Mandan, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 7, 2025 in Mandan. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, August 15 at Weigel Funeral Home in Mandan. Burial will follow at Mandan Union Cemetery. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the funeral service on Friday.

Leroy was born August 30, 1945 in Beulah, ND to Lucas and Magdalen (Heier) Weiand. He attended Mandan High School, graduating in 1963. He met Ardelle Heyne and they married in 1965. Together, they had two children, Scott was born in 1965 and Paula in 1966. Lee worked numerous jobs to support his family. He was a hard-working man and never let his family go without what they needed. In 1972, he began working for BNSF Railroad and worked there until his retirement in 2005. Leroy enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and was a private man. He enjoyed tinkering on things in his garage or on the land he owned. In retirement, he spent time being a good steward of the land by collecting and recycling anything that was recyclable. He would pull over when driving to pick up an aluminum can if he noticed one.

Saturday nights were always special as he looked forward to his steak, potato and any side dish Ardella would provide. Leroy enjoyed spending time with his family. He meant the world to those who were close to him and will be dearly missed. The family would like to thank Lasting Love Home Care for all the care and support to Leroy and Ardella over the years.

Leroy is survived by his wife, Ardella, son, Scott (Deb) and siblings, Shirley, Chuck (Mary), Larry (Sue), Sandy (Larry), Duane (Linda), Kenny and Sheila, grandchildren, Tessa (Brett) Brad-Lee, Melissa (James) as well as great-grandchildren, Layla, Cameron, Aiden, Benjamin, Alaric and Isabel, great-great granddaughter, Paisley and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucas and Magdalen, daughter, Paula and mother and father-in-law, Helen and Art.
