Leonard J. Leingang, 79, Mandan, passed away April 30, 2018 after a short illness with the comfort care of his family in his home in Mandan.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Christ The King Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. Nick Schneider as celebrant. Private inurnment at a later date.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 2, 2018 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home, with a rosary and Parish Vigil at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
Leonard was born August 14, 1938, to Joseph and Ida (Eckroth) Leingang, in Flasher, ND. He married Katherine Roshau in Killdeer, ND on June 5, 1961. Leonard had two daughters and three sons from this marriage.
During his life, Leonard was in the construction industry he owned and operated L & L Construction where he taught his sons a trade and instilled a strong work ethic. Farming was Leonard’s passion. Farming West of Mandan, Leonard raised beef cattle where you could hear him call out to them “Hey Girls”, “Hey Babies.” Leonard didn’t get to travel much, but in his earlier years he did get a chance to travel to Canada for a few fishing trips.
Leonard enjoyed making his famous sausage and he was very generous with sharing it with family and friends.
Leonard will be deeply missed by his wife, Katherine, Mandan; his sons, Curtis (Paulette), Mandan; Richard (Marcia), Osceola, Iowa; and Leonard Jr. (Michelle), Mandan; daughter, Dawn Leingang Lincoln; his grandchildren, Tyler, Samantha, Rick, Amanda, Todd, Dustin, McKayla, Jacob, Cade and Croix; his great-grandchildren, Jessa, Christian, Daniel, Ariel, Nash, and Jay; and numerous nieces and nephews.
his siblings, Kenneth (Susan) Mandan, Tom (Sharon) Mandan, Betty Tschida, Florida; Marleen Tschida, Fort Rice, Bill (Elizabeth) Colorado, Dan (Jeanette) Washburn, Rose (Jim) Schmidt, Arizona; and Bev (Julius) Roehrich, Menoken also his brothers and sisters in law. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Ida (Eckroth) Leingang, his daughter, Theresa, infant brother Adam and brothers-in-law, Leo and Mike Tschida. Let us not forget his beloved dog, Dozier, who misses him greatly.
