LaVerne D Emil

LaVerne D. (Ritz) Emil, 86, of Mandan, was called to heaven on April 4, 2023 at Sanford Health, Bismarck. 

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, with Pastor Phil Leer officiating.  Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery.

LaVerne was born February 14, 1937, to Francis and Helen (Monson) Ritz in Flasher, North Dakota, where she was raised and educated.  Her family moved to Mandan and that is where she met and married Gerald “Jerry” Emil, Sr. on April 19, 1958.

LaVerne began working for the State of North Dakota at Motor Vehicle/Central Data Processing and continued there for 42 years when she retired.  She then helped her husband with Flatens Greenhouse in Mandan.  LaVerne enjoyed listening to polka music and traveling when they got a chance.

LaVerne is survived by her son, Jerry Jr., Phoenix, Arizona; sister-in-law, Jackie Pearson; nieces,  nephews, and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; her parents; and her in-laws.

In lieu of flowers, LaVerne prefers a memorial in her name to the Central Dakota Humane Society, 2104 37^th St., Mandan, ND  58554.
