Laura Thompson

Laura Jean Thompson, Lake Havasu City, Arizona passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at her home in Lake Havasu, Arizona at the age of 58.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, July 16, 2026 at Weigel Funeral Home in Mandan. Burial will follow at Mandan Union Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at the Eagles Club. Family and friends will gather one hour prior to service at the funeral home.

Laura was born February 11, 1968, in Mandan, ND to Darwin Wahl and Roberta (Lanz) Peterson. 

In June of 1998 Laura married the love of her life Roger Thompson and with that marriage gained a large extended family including children and grandchildren.

Laura enjoyed spending time with family and the many friends her and Roger met over the years while owning The Old Town Tavern in Mandan, ND. Laura and Roger spent a lot of time visiting and hosting get-togethers at their home in Brush Lake, ND and in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.

Left with fond memories are her three brothers: Steve (Chet) Wahl, Sean Wahl and Kyle (Wendy) Wahl Peterson; two sisters: Carrie (Rick) Trehus, and Shelley (Merle) Hoffman; step children, Jim (Kris) Thompson, Jason Thompson, Mike (Tanya) Thompson, and Dawn (Jeremy) Jacobson; 10 Grandchildren and three great grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Laura was preceded in death by her husband Roger Thompson; mother, Roberta (Lanz) Peterson; father, Darwin Wahl; brother David Wahl; sister, Connie Kraft and step-son Steve Thompson.
