Flasher

Keith L. Kraft, age 76, of Flasher, ND, died comfortably in his home August 26, 2025, under the care of Sanford Hospice.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at 6:00 PM at the Catholic Church of St. Lawrence in Flasher with Fr. Frank Schuster as Celebrant. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service on Thursday evening with a Celebration of Life to follow.

Burial will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 5th at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan with full military honors.

Keith was born on February 20, 1949, in Bismarck to Louis & Florence (Leingang) Kraft and raised on the family farm 12 miles northwest of Fort Yates. He attended the Leingang Country School with teacher Beatrice George through the 4th grade, then to St Bernard’s Parochial School in Fort Yates, and lastly the Standing Rock Community Schools until his graduation in 1967.

Keith wanted to be a draftsman, so he enrolled at Dickinson State College which he attended for 1 ½ years before being drafted into the U.S. Navy in 1969. He was honorably discharged in 1973.

Keith moved to Denver, CO in early 1974 to complete and obtain his draftsman degree. He began working for an international French company until the company relocated to Houston, TX and began using computers. Keith then worked in industrial construction (mostly concrete), building airports, research facilities, penitentiaries, and some government buildings about which he could not talk. This work took him across the western United States, from Denver, to Houston, Los Angeles, San Diego, and Hawaii.

It was in the first year of Keith’s life in Denver that he met the love of his life, Victoria. They married in 1976 and though they did not have the blessing of their own child, Keith was the father figure for Victoria’s 5 children and Papa to the many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Upon Victoria’s death in 2013, Keith moved back to North Dakota to reconnect with his dad and siblings. To get back to enjoying the hunting, fishing, boating and many other outdoor adventures he had missed during his years of laborious work.

Keith is survived by his siblings, Victoria’s children, and all his grandchildren.

Keith is welcomed into Paradise not only by the open arms of God, but also Victoria and his parents Louis and Florence.
