Katie was born on October 30, 1924 to John and Caroline (Schmidt) Steckler in St. Anthony, ND where she was raised and educated. Katie met the love of her life, Mike Fleck and they married on her birthday, October 30, 1945. Katie and Mike lived southwest of Flasher, ND for 45 years where they farmed and raised their seven children. In 1990 they moved into Flasher. Mike passed away in 1992. Katie moved to Mandan in 2003 before moving to Touchmark in 2011.

Katie enjoyed life on the farm. She was an excellent cook and loved to share her famous German dishes with family and friends. Holidays were a tradition at the farm, where the family gathered and made lasting memories. Katie also liked gardening, crocheting, embroidering and quilting. She was always ready to find a partner and play a good game of cards. As a grandma, Katie loved to see her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always having a smile on her face and a warm hug when they would come to visit. Generous and caring, Katie dedicated her time and was involved with the Christian Mothers, RSVP, Liberty Heights and the 55 Club of Flasher. Katie loved to socialize and talked often of the friends she made while at Touchmark. Katie was also fortunate to have been able to travel to Hawaii, Jerusalem and the Holy Land. Katie’s faith, prayers and the rosary were an essential part of her life. She will forever be remembered and we are blessed for all the special times we shared with Katie.
