Kathy was born May 12, 1950 and was the first of four children welcomed into the family of Anton and Anna Marie (Geiger) Himmelspach. Kathy was a member of the Mandan High School Class of 1968 and during her high school years worked at the Mandan Theatre, Mandan Hospital, and also babysat for her nephews. On May 24, 1968 Kathy married the love of her life, Monte Berreth. They began their life together and welcomed three beautiful children, Kim, Curtis, and Travis Berreth. Kathy went on to earn her dental assistant degree and worked at Smiles by Design for 25 years.
Kathy took such great pride in raising and taking care of her family. She enjoyed many hobbies which included scrapbooking, ceramics, fishing, camping, bowling, and baking goodies for her family. Kathy had a great work ethic. She loved life, loved to laugh, and always had the greatest smile and cookies for everyone. There are no words to describe her beautiful soul. Kathy’s love and life will always be remembered and treasured by her family. She was a dedicated sister, aunt, wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved her children and treasured her grandchildren even more, embracing every moment with them. She had a vivacious personality and always made sure everybody’s needs were met before her own.
Kathy fought a courageous battle with cancer, putting on a brave face through it all. She fought with grace and dignity and every ounce of her being. We are heartbroken and lost by her passing. Though we are all relieved her suffering has ended, we will continue to find comfort in knowing that she will remain forever in our hearts. She will be deeply missed by so many people. Kathy was one of the strongest women to ever walk this earth and our family was blessed to have her.
Kathy will be deeply missed by her husband, Monte Berreth; daughter, Kim (Merrill) Hirchert; sons, Curt (Sherry) Berreth and Travis (Sarah) Berreth; grandchildren, Brianne and Caden Hirchert, Coy, Colten, Brady, Hannah, and Tucker Berreth; siblings, Geri Chillemi, Keith Himmelspach, and Kevin (Brenda) Himmelspach; and many other family members.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Tony and Ann Himmelspach; and in-laws, Ingram and Dorothy Berreth.
