Karl was born July 15, 1990 and grew up on the family dairy farm northwest of New Salem, ND. Despite his struggle with autism, he had a nurturing childhood environment with the love of his family, animals, and nature. Karl's education began with homeschool; he was a driving force in the legalization of homeschooling for children with disabilities in ND. When Karl was ready, he joined the school system in New Salem, where the staff and students were always so understanding and supportive. The parish of St. Pius V in New Salem showed the same kind of love. Karl took an early interest in Bible stories, memorizing the parables, the Passion of Christ, and other scripture. His faith was engaging and inspiring.
At age 19, Karl joined HIT, Inc. in Mandan and had his own apartment, with support staff. During some of this time he would do casual jobs around the community. The parish of St, Joseph in Mandan, ND was so supportive and welcoming to him as an adult.
About ten years later he came back home to the farm where he enjoyed time with nature again. Taking long walks and swimming gave him reprieve. He also liked to play computer, listen to religious and instrumental music, and write heartfelt letters. Karl took pride in being an uncle to his 4 nieces and 3 nephews.
Karl was pure in heart. He didn't know how to tell a lie. He didn't feel the need to impress anyone. In many ways, he was a fine example for all of us. In every way, he was a blessing from God. Karl will be greatly missed.
The family would like to express their gratitude to all of the friends and family for their prayers, and to the staff of Sanford Hospital in Bismarck for their care this past month.
Karl is survived by his parents, Charles and Catherine Holle, his siblings, Joe (Heather), Sarah (Luke), Jacob and Raymond, 4 nieces: Oakley, Kessa, Laura, and Noelle, and 3 nephews: Benjamin and Robinson Heinle, and Holt Holle.
