Joseph Bauer

Joseph R. Bauer, 81, Mandan, passed away on August 31, 2018.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 7, 2018 at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Huff, ND with Rev. Todd Kreitinger as celebrant and Rev. Leonard Eckroth as concelebrant.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 6, 2018 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home with a Rosary/Parish Vigil at 7:00 p.m.

Joseph was born on February 17, 1937 to Leopold & Theresa (Rebenitsch) Bauer in Mandan, ND.  He was raised and educated in a one room country school house in Morton County. Joseph married Marlene Erhardt on November 7, 1959 in Mandan. Joseph’s passion was farming. He was a reserved man of a few words but had a huge heart. His greatest pride was his family and his farm. Joseph was active in church, serving as a member of the church council. He was a hunting enthusiast and his highlights included a fishing trip to Alaska with Father Leonard Eckroth and several moose and elk hunting trips with family. He also enjoyed a trip to Austria where he learned of his ancestry. He’ll be remembered for his soft hearted disposition, concern for others, and love of animals.

Joseph will be deeply missed by his children, Joseph Jr. (Donna), Mandan, Cindy Opp, Wilton,  Cheryl (Brad) Hellman, Mandan, Shane, Fort Rice, Eugene (Angie Mulroy), Fort Rice, Judy (Shawn) Feiring, New Salem; sisters-in-law, Marie Bauer, Mandan and Janice Cline, Emmett, Idaho; grandchildren, Jessi (Blake) Sisk, Alyssa (Tom) Hallendorff, Kaylyn (Tom) Senger, Jayme (Michael Feliciano) Bauer, Mandi Bauer, Lindsey (Chris) Kondos, James (Helen) Hellman, and Geoff Hellman; great-grandchildren, Brayden and Jace Sisk, Aubrey and Jax Hallendorff, Kambrie and Kaiden Bauer-Feliciano, little Joe Bauer, Theo Kondos, Breanna Hellman, and Piper Hellman; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was also looking forward to meeting another expected great grandson later this year.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Marlene; parents; sister, Mary Ann (Robert) Just; brothers, Leo Bauer, Raymond (Helen) Bauer; brothers-in-law, Jim Cline, and Don Erhardt;  his son, John; grandchildren, Melissa, Trevor, and Michael.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
