John Gagnon, passed away at the age of 51 at his home in Bismarck, ND with his girlfriend, Virginia, and his beloved cats at his side.
If you knew John, you know that he was a fiercely private person so this will be short and barely scratch the surface of the true John.
John Thomas Gagnon was born July 15, 1974 in Manchester, New Hampshire, the son of Guy and Doris Gagnon.
John proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for 23 years. During that time, he made friends with those that broke through his hard outer shell, became friends for life. Two of them he always referred to as his brothers from other mothers- Eric and Chris. After retiring from the Air Force, he returned to Bismarck and started a second career working on wind towers.
John’s love for (ok he was a fanatic) the New England Patriots was known by everyone, and I mean everyone!
He will be missed by his person of 12 years, Virginia Weiss, his beloved cats, close cousin, Denise, and “brothers” Eric, Chris, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Guy and Doris, and older sister Patty.
John preferred to have no formal funeral service.
Interment will be at the North Dakota Veteran Cemetery – Mandan, with full military honors, on August 15th, 2025 at 2:00 PM.
If you are able to attend, in honor of John, please wear your favorite team shirt/jersey.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in John’s name to the Central Dakota Humane Society, 2104 37th Street, Mandan, ND 58554.
