Janice Hayer, 73, Mandan, passed away November 10, 2022, at a Bismarck hospital.

A funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at First Lutheran Church, Mandan, with Pastor Phil Leer officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.

Visitation will be held from 4-6 PM on Friday, November 18, 2022, at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan and continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

Janice Elaine Schultz was born September 7, 1949, in Kenmare, ND, to Herb and Emma (Asmundson) Schultz of Berthold, ND. She was baptized at and became a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Berthold. Janice attended school in Hartland, later graduating from Berthold High School in 1967. She attended college in Fargo, after which she worked at the Mountrail County States Attorney Office in Stanley, ND. In 1970 she married David Hayer at Zion Lutheran Church in Berthold, and they moved to Minot where she worked at the County Court until they moved to Mandan in 1976.  Here she worked at the State Industrial School until her retirement.  Janice was a member of First Lutheran Church of Mandan.

Janice is survived by her husband of 52 years, David Hayer, Mandan; sister, Geraine (Marvin) Johnson, Stanley; brother, Kenneth Schultz, Hermosa, SD; sister-in-law, Joan Schultz, Washington; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Herbert (Mary), Mert (Jeanette), and Verlund Schultz; and sisters, Deloris (Larry) Holtz and Marcella “Sally” (Richard) Johnson.
