Janet Miller

Janet Miller, 84, Mandan, formerly of Center, passed away August 19, 2026, at Sanford Health in Bismarck.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, August 25, at Weigel Funeral Home in Mandan with Deacon Randy Frohlich presiding. Lunch will follow at the Mandan Moose Club. Burial will take place at 1 PM at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the funeral.

Janet was born December 23, 1941, to John and Tillie (Erhardt) Hoerner at the family home in southwest Morton County. She was delivered by a midwife. Janet was raised on the family farm southwest of Almont and graduated from Almont High School. She later attended Capital Commercial College.

On June 28, 1963, she married the love of her life, Henry Miller. Together, they made their home on a farm east of Center, where they built a life filled with family, hard work, and many cherished memories.

Throughout her life, she worked at Bill's Super Value, cleaned houses, and worked at Katz Kitchen and the Golden Age Club. She later retired from Dakota Alpha.

Janet enjoyed casino trips, playing cards, bingo, bunco, watching Hallmark movies, and, most of all, spending time with her family. Her family brought her great joy, and she treasured the time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Twyla Miller of Mandan, Kelly (Karen) Miller of Center, and Kyle (Cheri) Miller of Center; grandchildren, Jessica (Myron) Wickenheiser of Bismarck, Kristy (Bryan) Bradley of Center, Lisa (James) Lageson of Mandan, and Joshua Miller (friend, Kelsey) of Mandan; as well as step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren. Janet is also survived by her sister, Charlene (Chet) Haux of Bismarck; sister-in-law, Sandy Hoerner of Carson; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, in 2010; her parents, John and Tillie; and her brother, Gerald Hoerner.

Janet will be lovingly remembered for her kindness, love of family, sense of fun, and the many memories she created with those who knew and loved her. Her family will forever cherish the time they shared with her and carry her memory in their hearts.
