Harry Koppinger passed away on July 23, 2025, in Bismarck, North Dakota. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan.

Harry was born on the family farm near New England, ND, the youngest of eight children to Nick and Rose (Martin) Koppinger. He spent his early years living the farm life in western North Dakota. At age 18, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served as a Green Beret in the Special Forces and as a paratrooper. After three years of service, with two and half years in Okinawa, Japan, he returned home and married the love of his life, Carol Schwartz of Reeder, ND. Together, Harry and Carol raised their two children, Todd and Michele, in the Cottage Grove, MN area. The couple returned to Bismarck/Mandan in 1996, where they have resided since.

Together, Harry and Carol shared 62 years of marriage and raised their two children, Todd and Michele, in the St. Paul/Minneapolis area. The couple returned to North Dakota in 1996.

He is survived by his wife Carol; children: Todd (Nancy Hanel) and Michele Koppinger; grandson, Paul (Brooklyn) Koppinger and their children, Blake and Cameron and granddaughter, Tiffany Koppinger. Harry was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, as well as his granddaughter, Paige Koppinger.
