Geraldine Huschka

Geraldine (Gerri) Huschka, 71, of Bismarck, passed away September 22, 2017 at Sanford in Bismarck after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. Shane Campbell as celebrant. Inurnment will be at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Thursday, September 28, 11:00 am.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 26, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home, with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 6:00 pm followed by a Parish Vigil at 6:15 pm. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

Geraldine (Gerri) Huschka was born May 19, 1946 to Adolph Kudrna and Margaret (Prause) in Dickinson, ND.  She was raised and educated in South Heart, ND.  She married Marvin Huschka on September 4, 1965 in South Heart, ND.  They moved to Mandan in 1970 where she worked at Western Auto Parts and at the Bismarck-Mandan Chamber of Commerce where she worked for 25 years.

Gerri loved to play cards and spend time with her grandchildren. She attended concerts, sporting events, and always had a card in the mail extra early for every occasion, including Halloween.  Gerri and Marvin loved to travel and go camping and in 1989 they joined the FCRV Roughrider Camping Club holding state leadership roles and attending the national conventions.  Gerri’s favorite travels were to Hawaii, Alaska, and the Grand Canyon.  Her favorite things were her sorority and camping club. She absolutely adored her two great-granddaughters and could never resist buying them everything she saw.  Gerri was a vibrant wife, mother, and grandmother whose wonderful personality full of laughter and the joy of life, will be missed by all that loved and knew her.

Gerri will be deeply missed by her husband, Marvin; daughters, Renee Huschka, Las Vegas, NV, Rhonda (Scott) Walker, Renville, MN; son, Brian (Jennifer), Naperville, IL; sisters, Shirley (Bob) Loritz, Virginia (Skip) Nelson, Marilyn (Duane) Steffan; brother, Ken (Noreen) Kudrna; 5 grandchildren, Ashton Wilson, Courtney Schmidt, Lexy Wilson, Braydon Huschka, Tyler Huschka; step-grandchild, Cara Walker; and 2 great-grandchildren, Kensley and Devyn.

Gerri was preceded in death by her parents.
