Frances Bohl, 96, of Bismarck, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on August 1, 2025, at the Baptist Home in Bismarck.

Frances was born on April 16, 1929, the twelfth of sixteen children to Stanley and Amelia (Leingang) Hopfauf in Fallon, ND. In August 1949, she married George Bohl in Fallon.

Frances was always an active member of her community. She worked as a waitress and cook in Flasher and Carson restaurants, at the Flasher Public School cafeteria, and often assisted her sister, Rose, with catering weddings and special events. A talented cook, her family enjoyed and appreciated the many delicious meals and treats she lovingly prepared. Frances was creative and loved doing crafts—especially quilting, embroidery, and plastic canvas. After moving to Baptist Health and Rehab in 2018, she continued crafting and making plastic canvas crafts, generously sharing them with staff and fellow residents. Frances loved Bingo and looked forward to playing twice a week at the nursing home. To fill in her days Frances would work on jigsaw puzzles via her iPad and kept sharp by solving word puzzles from her many puzzle books.  She remained dedicated to her crafts until just a few weeks before her passing.

Frances will be deeply missed by her daughters, Andriette “Andi” (Jerry) Bonogofsky of Baldwin, ND and Carlotta Thomas of Cushing, OK; her sons, Darrell (Billie) Bohl of Bismarck, Dale (Karen) Bohl of Mandan, Brian Bohl of Colorado Springs, and Rob (Brenda) Bohl of Papillion, NE; step-son, George Jr. (Frances) Bohl of Claremore, OK; 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Clementine Volk of Bismarck; brother, Florian (Georgia) Hopfauf of Park City, MT; and numerous nieces and nephews.
