Florence Weinberger, 97, of Mandan, passed away January 19, 2026, in a Bismarck care center with her family by her side.

Visitation will be held from 5-6:30 PM on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Weigel Funeral Home followed by a 6:30 PM prayer service.
Florence was born May 17, 1928, in Richardton, ND, the oldest of three children to Phillip and Josephine (Veitenheimer) Berger. Raised and educated in Richardton, Florence helped on the family farm while growing up. On November 18, 1952, she married Albert Weinberger. They lived in Glen Ullin for a short time before moving to Mandan. They had two children, Joell and Thomas. Florence was a homemaker until Albert’s passing in 1978. She then received her GED, got her drivers license, and bought her first car, a brown 1978 Chevy Nova. Florence took a cake decorating class where she found her passion and made many cakes for all occasions throughout the years. Her cakes will be remembered for their delicious frosting and the meticulous detail she put into them. She also enjoyed baking an assortment of cookies and her Christmas cutout cookies were a family favorite. Grandkids were never allowed to leave her house without a bag full of cookies. She also enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, sewing, and quilting. Florence was a member of the Flasher Quilters Club and made numerous quilts, wall hangings, and table runners.
Florence spent a lot of time with her grandkids, time that they all treasured. She frequently made weekend trips to the farms to visit. She enjoyed spoiling them by making the best pancakes and grilled cheese sandwiches. Florence also enjoyed taking her grandkids on day trips and rides on the trolley. She enjoyed taking care of rabbits and toads that her granddaughters would drop off at her house. However, her favorite pet was her teacup poodle, Scooter, who she had for many years.
The highlight in her later years was her nine great-grandchildren, whom she always enjoyed getting visits from. Florence was very proud to live in her own home until November of 2025, when she moved to St. Gabriel’s where she made many new friends and enjoyed playing bingo and doing crafts. A woman of deep and abiding faith, she faithfully prayed the rosary each day and found great peace in watching EWTN.
Florence will be greatly missed by her daughter, Joell (Ben) Schmidt; daughter-in-law, Marie Weinberger; grandchildren, Brad (Kameron) Schmidt, Ashley (Lance) Rossow, Amber (Marcus) Knoll, Tom Weinberger Jr., Stephanie (Travis) Schmidt, and Jacob (Lynn) Weinberger; great-grandchildren, Landrie (fiancé, Lane), Houston, Logan, Bodie, Rylie, Remi, Hayden, Beau, Oakley, Kennedy (Lakin), and Keegan; family friend, Sherry Schmidt; sister, Thelma Kadrmas; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Florence was welcomed into heaven by her parents; her husband, Albert; son, Tom; brother and sister-in-law, William (Pauline) Berger; and nephew, Ryan Berger.
Florence’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to St. Gabriel’s Benedictine Community, especially Kirby, and all of the staff that cared for her. Also, her neighbors and friends that kept a watchful eye on her.
