Elmer T. Bauer, 93, Mandan, formerly of New Salem, passed away, Monday, January 12, 2026 in Mandan. Memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, January 20 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Bismarck with Pastor Jonathan Walla officiating. Burial will take place at Graceland Cemetery in New Salem following the luncheon at the church. Visitation will be on Monday, January 19 from 4-6 PM at Weigel Funeral Home in Mandan, with a prayer service starting at 4:45pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at church.

Elmer Theodore Bauer, devoted follower of Jesus Christ, passed away peacefully in his home at the age of 93, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, service to God, family and community.

Elmer was born at home on June 20th,1932 to Theophil and Lydia Bauer; he was the 4th of their 10 children. He was baptized at St Pauls Lutheran Church in Otter Creek; he attended Parochial school there in 7th and 8th grade and was confirmed there. His confirmation scripture was Gen 15:1 “ After these things, the Word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, saying ‘Do not be afraid Abram I am your shade, your exceeding, great reward’.

As a member of Zion Lutheran Church in New Salem, and later at Bethel Lutheran Church, Elmer served in various positions as chair of the board, elder, trustee, and choir member.

Elmer and Mable were faithful in training up their children in the way that they should go according to Proverbs 22:6, and they participated in a home bible study for many years.

Elmer is survived by children Cheryl Peltz(Steve), Donavon Bauer(Barbara), Deborah Bueligen(Dan), Douglas Bauer (DeLana) and Theresa Brockman (Michael); 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and one great grandson; his remaining siblings: Herbert Bauer, Gertrude Bauer, Floris Beisel, Elizabeth Clark, Mervyn Bauer, and Edmond Bauer.

Elmer is proceeded in death by Mable after 58 years of marriage, his parents, his brothers and their spouses George Bauer (Deloris), Frederick Bauer(Alice), and Rueben(Marlys); daughter in law Jamie (Douglas), grandson Cole (Douglas&DeLana), brother in law John Beisel (Floris) and sister in law, Pat Bauer(Edmond).
