Betty was born January 14, 1918. She grew up in Huff, ND and was the daughter to Martin and Kathryn Miller. As a young girl she enjoyed riding horse, hopscotch, school classes, sewing and gardening.

On October 18, 1938 she was united in marriage to Anton (Tony) G. Stein. They met at a dance at the Sweetbriar Hall. They homesteaded in the Crown Butte area Northwest of Mandan. In 1961 they moved to Mandan. Tony died in 1981.

Betty married Mike Bohl in 1983. Together they enjoyed volunteering many hours and particularly enjoyed wintering in Meza, AZ. Mike died in 1991.

Betty was proud to continue living independently and enjoyed driving. She loved being around people and was always full of questions to get to know you. She will be remembered fondly for her zest for life, her determined stubbornness, energetic spirit, her good sense of humor and for her strong Catholic faith. She was proud to live independently and being able to drive to church and get her own groceries. She had a particular talent in growing flowers and beautiful gardens. She enjoyed crocheting, craft projects, sewing, playing Pinochle, going to the Casino, watching her daily soap opera and had a passion for old time music, dancing and socializing.

She said the gift of living so many years was to enjoy the birth of more grandchildren and great-grandchildren than she ever dreamed of. After having the great-grandchildren she inherited the pet-name, "Betty the Great"!

Betty was a life-time member of the Catholic Daughter's, a member of Christian Mother's, the Eagles and Moose Clubs and the Senior Golden Age Club.

Left with many good memories are her children, Bernie (Janice) Stein. Norman (Darlene) Stein, and Arlene (Joel) Melarvie all of Mandan, ND; 8 grandchildren, Bill (Joan) Stein, Bob (Judy) Stein, Barry (Jody) Stein, Dr. Sherry (Harry Hughes) Stein, Delton (Terry) Stein, Kurt (Heidi) Stein, Stacie (Keith) Hoffert and Robyn Hanson; 20 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and many Bohl stepchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Kathryn; husband, Tony; son, Tony Stein, Jr.; her second husband, Mike and brother, William Miller.
