Mandan

Eileen Mae Ereth, 88, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Benedictine Living Community in Bismarck, ND, after courageously defying the odds for the last seven months.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Thursday, July 30 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mandan with Fr. Josh Waltz presiding. Burial will follow at the North Dakota Veteran's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Wednesday, July 29 with a Rosary/ Parish Vigil at 7 PM at Weigel Funeral Home in Mandan and will continue one hour prior to Mass at the church.

Eileen was born February 19, 1938, in Dickinson, ND to Charles and Myra (Kubik) Fisher, the oldest of four children. Eileen was raised on the family ranch north of Dickinson, graduating from Dickinson High School in 1955. After graduation, Eileen moved to Rochester, MN, where she earned an Associate’s Degree in Medical Record Technology.

In October 1959, she married the love of her life, Lloyd Ereth. Together they shared 48 wonderful years of marriage, building a life centered on hard work, family, and raising their two daughters Melissa and Trisha.

Eileen devoted many years to her career, as the Director of Medical Records at Mandan Hospital. Retirement didn’t slow her down. She began a second career, teaching Health Information Technology at United Tribes Technical College. Even after she finally “retired” she remained active and involved in her community. She volunteered at the North Dakota Heritage Center and the Good Samaritan Society nursing home; participated in Homemakers Club, Catholic Daughters and the St. Joseph Circle; enjoyed spending time with her dear friends, known as “The Birthday Girls”; and loved traveling. Her adventures took her to China, Australia, and throughout Europe and the Caribbean. Above all else, Eileen treasured her family. The greatest joy of her life was spending time with her beloved grandchildren, Sawyer and Ariana.

Eileen is survived by her daughters, Melissa Rapp and Trisha (Chad) Seidel, her cherished grandchildren, Sawyer Rapp and Ariana Seidel; her sisters, Beverly Larson and Diane Wood; her brother Charles (Carma) Fisher; her sisters-in-law, Alice Ereth and Berniece Shaw, her brother-in-law Dave Schmidt, numerous nieces, nephews and her faithful cat, Oliver. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; parents, Charles and Myra, and multiple brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at CHI St. Alexius Medical Center and the Benedictine Living Community for their exceptional care, kindness and dignity, they provided Eileen.
