Delila Nelson

Delila Nelson, age 77, of Mandan passed away on August 29th, 2019, in a Bismarck hospital.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, Sept. 2nd at 10:30 AM at Weigel Funeral Home. Burial will be held at a later date.

Visitation will be held Sunday, Sept.1st from 5 to 8 pm at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, with a Women of the Moose Ritual at 6:30 PM and a Time of Sharing/Rosary at 7 PM.

Delila was born on 4/2/42 to Joe and Leah (Lumsden) Rauchwater. She was raised on a farm in Ft. Rice, ND, and graduated from Mandan High School.

Delila worked in the food service industry in both restaurants and hospitals, with the last 17 years of her career spent as Food Service Director at the ND State Penitentiary.

Delila dedicated her life to the enrichment of others, and touched so many lives through her generosity and kindness. She lived fully, and loved fiercely.

She will be deeply missed by her sons, Jess (Diana), Jim (Julie) ; grandchildren, Nicole, Jazmin, Corey, and Brad. Her siblings, Rhonda Schriock (“Sharpshooter” Jim), Lois (Tom) Schaff, Joe (Carol) Rauchwater, Monte Rauchwater, and brother-in-law Ray Geiger.

Delila was preceded in death by her son Jason Nelson, her parents Joe and Leah Rauchwater, siblings Leon and Wayne Rauchwater and Deloris Geiger.
