Delanis Eckroth

Delanis Eckroth, 84, of Mandan, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2026 in Mandan.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1:00 PM on Thursday, July 23, 2026 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mandan. Rite of Committal will follow in the Mandan Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at Weigel Funeral Home from 5 - 7:00 PM. Woman of the Moose Ritual will begin at 6:30 PM and a Parish Vigil will follow at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church with Catholic Daughter Rosary beginning at 12:30 P.M.

Delanis Marlene was born April 1 1942 in Bismarck, the daughter of John and Mary (Boehm) Ferderer. She was raised and educated in Mandan.

Delanis was part of one of the first graduating classes from the former Mandan High School building, graduating in 1960. She was very proud of being her class Valedictorian. Delanis (Ferderer) Eckroth began her career with the Leach family. She started in the accounting department of North American Royalties Inc., an independent oil firm. After the proprietors' death in 1966, Del continued working for his wife at Leach Enterprises. Beginning in 1981, she has worked directly for the Leach Foundation, keeping the Foundation running on a daily basis as administrative secretary and grants coordinator. Through the foundation Del helped make a tremendous impact on her communities.

On July 7, 1962, Delanis married Don Eckroth at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mandan. In 1968, their family grew with the birth of their daughter, Dori Jean.

Delanis enjoyed camping, fishing, reading, scrap-booking and volunteering -especially in Medora during the spring and fall for 10 years.

She was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. An active member of the Women of the Moose, Eagles Auxiliary, and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, where she was a life-time member. She also enjoyed spending time with friends as a member of the Red Hat Society as well as leading a local chapter of TOPS.

Grateful for having shared in her life is her daughter, Dori Jean Ost of Maple Valley, WA; grandchildren, Dylan Lee Ost and Jake Donald (Abby) Ost; great-granddaughters, Maeve Marie and Iyla Jean; sister, Kelly (Frank) Felcyn; in-laws Pauline Cushman, Raymond Eckroth, Rosella Kuhn, Gene Hatzenbeler, and Phyllis Eckroth; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Delanis was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Don and brother, Eugene Gress.
