Dean W. Sedivec, 83, of Mandan, passed away January 12, 2021, at Sanford Hospital, Bismarck.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, January 22, 2021, at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan ND with Dennis Sailer as celebrant. Inurnment will follow at Union Cemetery near Wing, ND.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 22, 2021, from 12:00-1:00 PM at Weigel Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be live-streamed on the Weigel Funeral Home website under Dean’s obituary page.
Dean was born in Bismarck ND on October 9, 1937, to George (Bud) and Hilma (Olson) Sedivec. He grew up on a farm near Wing, ND, and worked summers helping his Uncle Bill and Aunt Clara on their farm. He started high school in Wing then moved with his family to Riverdale where he graduated in 1955. He enlisted in the US Air Force after graduation, fulfilled his military obligation, and was honorably discharged.
Dean married Virginia Barth on February 7, 1996, and they lived in Bismarck until retiring to Yuma, AZ. Together they enjoyed traveling in their RV and spending time with family. They loved their time in Yuma and made many friends while living there.
Dean lived in Indiana for a time before returning to his home state of ND. Dean was a semi-truck driver and worked for Dan Dugan Oil Transport and Batesville Casket Company before retiring. Dean had a love for all sweets and his CB handle was appropriately “The Cookie Man”.
Dean will be deeply missed by his stepsons, Delbert Barth, Evansville, WI, Duane Barth, Portag, WI, Darvin Barth, Pensacola, FL; stepdaughter, Delphine (Terry) Alm, Mandan, ND; eight grandkids; six great-grandkids; sisters, Carol (Harry) Kassian, Wilton, ND, Sue (Lee) Stenehjem, Phoenix, AZ; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents; wife Virginia; and sister, Jeanne Lutz.
