Darleen J. Kuntz, 87, of Mandan, joined the Lord on May 7, 2026. She was surrounded by her family.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Mandan. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, and continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Darleen was born in 1938 to Theodore J. and Ida (Jenner) Hoff in Mandan. Raised and educated in Mandan, she graduated from Mandan High School in 1957. In 1958 she was united in marriage to Virgil Kuntz, and they had four children. They later divorced.
Darleen worked at Lucas Clothing Store as a clothes buyer, at Heartview, the Vet Center, and CHI Home Health. Darleen later did daycare while she also cared for her parents. Darleen was always willing to help and care for others, and went above and beyond for everyone. Many of her daycare kids kept in touch and visited her when they were grown. She was also an honorary pallbearer for former clients’ funerals since she became friends with them and their families.
Darleen’s greatest joy was when her grandkids came to visit, which was all the time. She loved to cook for them and also enjoyed gardening.
She leaves behind children, Andrea (Carter) Stone, Randy (Theresa) Kuntz, Pam (Charlie) Hoffer, and Melody Kuntz; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Huebner; and sister-in-law, Lois Hoff.
Darleen was welcomed in to Heaven by her parents, Theodore and Ida; brother, Harold Hoff; sisters, Lillian (John) Fahlgren, Mary Ann (Dave) Moehring, Alice (Bill) Cates, and Delores (Paul) Fenske; brother-in-law, Bill Huebner; and her former husband, Virgil.
