Mandan

Daniel “Dan” Dinneen, 90, of Mandan, passed away November 11, 2019 at St. Alexius Hospital, Bismarck.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 15, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, ND at 10:30 AM with Fr. Josh Waltz as celebrant.  Burial will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery at 12:00 PM, with lunch to follow at the Mandan Eagles.

Visitation will be held Thursday, November 14, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, with a Rosary/Parish Vigil at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Daniel Dinneen was born to Jack and Catherine (McDermott) Dinneen on April 25, 1929 in New Richland, MN, where he was raised and educated. At a young age he joined the United States Airforce and proudly served his country as a Weather Officer. He was stationed in many different countries, including Greenland, Panama, and parts of Europe. He completed his military service at the age of twenty-nine.

Dan sold farm equipment to implement dealers around Minnesota and North Dakota, where he met Carol Ness. They were joined in marriage on November 26, 1956 in Kellogg, MN and together they had 5 children. Dan was also a pilot. He enjoyed the hobby of flying planes and was known as the “Sky King”. Dan started the Mon-Dak Harvestore business and sold it in 1978. In 1982 he started Bobcat of Mandan along with his sons.

On December 4, 1999 Dan married Mary (Blasy) Hulm.

Dan will be deeply missed by his wife, Mary of Mandan; children, Tricia (Larry) Niswanger of Minneapolis, MN, Steve (Eva) of San Jose, CA, Bryan of Gold Beach, OR, John (Beth) of Bismarck, ND, and Joe (Janelle) of Parker, CO; stepchildren, Mary Jo (Rick) Hofferber of Mandan, ND, Terry (Karen) Hulm of Bismarck, ND, Randy (Kim) Hulm of Fargo, ND, Rick Hulm of Minot, ND, and daughter-in-law Sherri Hulm of New Salem, ND; 16 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 17 step grandchildren; sister, Sheila (Art) Hopp of Minneapolis, MN; brother, Keith of Minneapolis, MN; and sister-in-law, Margo of Minneapolis, MN.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol; stepsons, Jody Hulm and Lonny Hulm; and his brother Dick.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mandan Meals on Wheels.
