Bismarck

Daniel Ezra Miller, of Bismarck, ND passed away November 20, 2024.

Dan had just turned 16. He lived in Bismarck, North Dakota with his dad, Michael, and in Rapid City, South Dakota with mom Rachel & stepdad Kevin. Dan found peace on the night of November 20th, 2024.

Dan was born to Michael and Rachel, in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin on the morning of October 25th, 2008. His sister Hannah was not so enthused about his arrival at first, but after pushing him off the couch, only once, she decided she loved him with all her heart.

When Dan was very young, he loved his visits with his Nana & Pop Pop, LaZann & Steve Allen, where they would go to the zoo and see the snakes and “wizards.” There were also countless visits with his Grandma and Papa, Lynette & Marlin Miller, and their extensive family road trips, crisscrossing the country to places like The Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Florida, Pennsylvania, and everywhere in between. However, one of his most favorite trips was to the Boundary waters of Minnesota and the many miles of hiking with his sister and father.

At the young age of six, Dan made his stage debut in his Kindergarten’s production of “The Three Little Pigs” where he was cast as the fantastic villain, the “Big, Bad, Wolf.” It was in the 4th grade that he picked up the viola. He was shy, but he found his niche as an engineer of profound Lego structures, an aficionado of Pokémon cards, and a collector of an ever-expanding network of friends, that like a snowball rolling downhill, continued to grow and grow. Dan entered High School attending the Dakota Adventist Academy where he played basketball and continued in orchestra. As a sophomore, he attended Legacy High School and continued to impact those around him.

Outside of academics, Dan enjoyed playing video games, hunting, fishing, camping and canoe trips in North Dakota, where he also achieved his yellow belt in Krav Maga. When not in North Dakota, Dan found himself exploring the Black Hills of South Dakota, where he could be found snowboarding, hiking, and paddleboarding. However, Dan’s truest passion was rock climbing. He had recently picked up the sport and was a natural. Just this summer, Dan made his first lead climb and he was hooked!

Above all, Dan had a strong sense of compassion, a heart overflowing with kindness. He absorbed knowledge and nature, always steady in spirit quietly walking his own path.

Dan is survived by his father Michael Miller; his Mother Rachel Dorsman; sister Hannah Miller; and grandparents, Marlin & Lynette Miller, and Steve & LaZann Allen; aunties, uncles, cousins, great grandparents, stepfather, and countless friends.

We will gather at the Bismarck Seventh-Day Adventist church on Tuesday, November 26th, 2024, at 10:30AM, to celebrate his life. Following the service, lunch will be served at the Dakota Adventist Academy, north of Bismarck.

Thank you to everyone for your love and support. Dan truly blessed our lives!
