Cullen Blaise Oothoudt, 4, Mandan, passed away August 6, 2017 at Sanford Children’s Hospital in Fargo after an almost two-year battle with brain cancer.

Visitation will be held Thursday, August 10, 2017 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Christ the King Catholic Church, with a Parish Vigil at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Cully was born on September 10, 2012 to Scott and Randi (Aberle) Oothoudt in Minot, ND. Cully and his family moved to Mandan when he was six months old. Cully loved and was so loved by everyone he encountered. He had a personality beyond his years and people were immediately drawn to him. When Cully got sick his happy, witty, kind and positive attitude never wavered, even through hospital stays. He loved his nurses and caregivers and always shared his endless supply of gumballs. Cully loved a lot. A few of his favorite things were Play-doh, puzzles, cheeseburgers and fries, Star Wars, Peppa Pig and decorating cakes, especially with fondant, or fondink as Cully called it. His days never started until he had his morning coffee with his mom and grandma. Cully always left people with a simple “Have a lovely day” spoken in the sweetest little Cully voice.

Cully will be deeply missed by his parents, Scott and Randi; sisters, Mari and Brynn; brothers, Nathan and Reed all of Mandan; grandparents, Dennis and Betty Oothoudt, Minot, ND, Dwane and Della Jensen, Mandan, ND and Lawrence and Louise Aberle, Las Vegas, NV; and many aunt, uncles and cousins, with whom he was very close.

Waiting to welcome Cully into God’s kingdom were his great-grandparents and his dog, Chomp.

To our sweet Cully Bear, Mom and Dad are so proud to be your parents and the immense pain we are feeling is a testament to how deeply you are loved.

Memorial donations are asked to be sent to Brave the Shave, Fishin’ for the Cure, Pray for Gray or the Ronald McDonald House.
