Clifford Mund

Clifford Mund, 95, Mandan ND, passed away June 18, 2025, at Miller Pointe, Mandan. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday June 26th, at First Lutheran Church, Mandan, with the Reverand Phil Leer officiating. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery following the service.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday June 25th at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

Clifford was born November 30, 1929, to Jacob and Katherina (Reich) Mund, who lived three miles West of Fredonia ND, until 1947 when they moved into the city. In 1949, Clifford began working in Rockford IL at Saint Anthony’s Hospital until 1951 when he was drafted into the U.S. Army and stationed in Pusan South Korea. He was honorably discharged in 1953.

Clifford married Linda Schlepp on Dec. 30, 1962, and they lived in Aberdeen, SD until 1977 when they moved to Mandan. Throughout his life, Clifford was a self-employed business owner, a plumber, and a union pipefitter. He was proud of his service to his country and was a VFW Lifetime Member. Two of the highlights in his life were participating in the Honor Flight to Washington DC on September 11, 2021 and receiving the Quilt of Valor presented to him by his son and granddaughter. He was also a Lifetime Member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters United Association Local 300. He enjoyed playing cards, RV camping, owning and riding horses, and visiting with friends and family.

Clifford will be deeply missed by his family; his sons, Douglas (DeLora) Mund, Bismarck, and Troy Mund, Minneapolis; his granddaughter, Cara Mund, Bismarck; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Clifford was preceded in death by Linda, his wife of almost 52 years, his son, Todd Mund in 2007; his parents, his siblings Esther Schill, Emgard Loebs, Leah Johson, Lenhart Mund, Stella Mund, Wilbert Mund, Adeline Opp, Alma Mjolsness, and Ervin Mund.
