Clifford Andrew Berger was born on February 12, 1935 in St. Anthony, ND to Mike and Barbara (Helbling) Berger. He attended school in St. Anthony and briefly attended high school before leaving to support the family farm.
He later moved to Mandan where he married his first wife Lorie Senger. Together they had 4 children, Sharon, Kelly, Jackie and Michael.
Cliff embarked on a career in sales beginning with Fuller Brush, he followed that with a 19-year tenure selling cars at Chase Chevrolet. Following this he and his brother Richard built a successful mobile home business, El Rancho Mobile Homes. In 1978 he opened a furniture store in Mandan, Quality Home Furniture, where he worked diligently until his health no longer permitted. Even in retirement he made frequent visits to the store to review the daily sales or to play cards (Gin Rummy) with friends.
In 1994 Cliff married his second wife, Susan Bayer, who brought three daughters into the family: Shelly, Karla and Jenny.
Throughout his life, Cliff was known for his dedication and hard work. His expertise in sales and finance was unmatched. His endearing struggles with new technology left us with many fond and humorous memories.
Cliff cultivated a wide range of interests throughout his life, beginning with boxing. He competed as a light heavyweight in Golden Gloves, a distinction he held with great pride. An avid outdoorsman, he found joy in hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed playing cards, visiting casinos, dancing and attending family gatherings, activities which reflected his deep appreciation for camaraderie, celebration and the simple pleasures of life.
He was a proud lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Loyal Order of Moose, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and the St. Anthony Verein where he formed many lasting friendships.
