Christ was born on October 7, 1935 to Nick J. and Frances (Himelspach) Doll in Glen Ullin, ND. The family lived on the Himelspach farm. Christ attended Sacred Heart School and Glen Ullin High School until the family moved to Mandan in 1952, where he graduated from Mandan High School in 1954.

Christ was a hard worker and had various jobs after graduation, including farm hand, linoleum mechanic at Vantines Paint and Glass, and a Patrolman with the Mandan City Police Department. In April of 1953 he joined the North Dakota National Guard. In July of 1964 he became a full time administrator for his guard unit and worked as a Civil Service employee for 20 years, rising to the distinguished rank of Command Sergeant Major, retiring in 1993. Christ was very proud of his military career and honored to have served his country with great distinction.

Christ met Diane Heinert in 1956 and they were married on June 28, 1958, making their home in Mandan. Together they worked and raised their seven children. They enjoyed camping and spending time with their families and friends along with both being active in the St. Joseph Catholic Church and the community. After his retirement, Christ and Diane enjoyed traveling to see many family and friends around the country.

Christ was an avid reader of western novels. He volunteered and was president at Mandan Golden Age Club. He enjoyed playing pinochle, bingo and dominoes. His great pride was being with his family, spending time with his grandchildren, and most especially making his famous breakfasts, including fried potatoes and home-made sausage. Some of the most cherished family memories included camping trips and teaching his children to enjoy fishing. He was a fascinating conversationalist with a delightful, contagious sense of humor. Christ could strike up a conversation with anyone and immediately make them feel at ease. He will be remembered by so many whose lives he touched with his gentle warmth and kindness.

Christ will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Diane; daughters, Denise (Kevin) Tietz, Troy, MI, Laurie (Jody) Leingang, Mandan, Tammie (Todd) Zarfos, Kent, WA, Carrie (Bob) Koch, Beulah, ND, and Sandie (Ryan) Nelson, Lancaster, MN; sons, Barry (Debbie), Port Orchard, WA. and Monty (LaRae), West Des Moines, IA; Grandchildren, Jerad (Masha), Christopher (Jennifer), Shawna (Chris), Shane, Joshua, Nicole, Kayla (Andrew), Ryan, Kortney, Brett, Faith, Elizabeth, Christian, Joseph, Nicolas, Alyssa, Noah, Maty, Breezie, Tucker, Hannah, and Willie; great-grandchildren; Keira, Sarah, Everett, Eli, and Eliana; brother, Clarence (Gloria), Mandan and brother-in-law, Robert Brown, Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Christ was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lorraine Brown, granddaughter Sarah Leingang and nephew Robert Brown Jr.
